The Hollywood Post Alliance has set up a new award to honor post production technical and creative excellence: The HPA Awards. The awards, which will include excellence in color grading, editing, audio post production and compositing, will be given out at a gala show in November.
President of the Hollywood Post Alliance, Leon Silverman said too often the significant contributions of the men and women in the post production industry are hidden or unacknowledged. "The HPA Awards were created to foster awareness of post production and to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of post production talent," he said.
There will also be two additional awards for Outstanding Contribution to advancing the field of post production and Engineering Excellence Awards, both to be given out at the awards ceremony Nov. 2. Details of the Engineering Excellence Awards will be announced later this month.
Entry forms will be available on June 8 and submissions will be accepted from June 15 to Aug. 15. Nominations will be announced on Sept. 25 and final judging will occur on October 14th. A call for judges will go out in early summer.
