Harmonic chooses Pro-Bel Halo routers for Japanese headend project
Harmonic has selected Pro-Bel to supply 84 Halo routers to be used as signal routers for redundancy switching in a major installation for a Japanese customer.
Harmonic is integrating the Halo routers as part of a large-scale digital headend based on Harmonic’s DiviCom digital video encoders and DiviTrackXE statistical multiplexing system. Installation of the system at the customer’s facility in Japan will occur later this year.
The Halo 16x16 routing switchers will be used in two applications within the Harmonic-based digital headend. The first employs the switch as an SDI input router to the DiviCom MV 50 encoders. The second uses the switch as an ASI output matrix switch for each of the transports.
Harmonic’s NMX digital service manager controls the Halos. NMX enables operators to manage their video infrastructure, which includes Halo routers, as a series of services rather than discrete hardware and software elements. NMX can transparently and automatically re-provision equipment in the event of a problem, maintaining the highest levels of service availability and performance.
