Grass Valley Equipment Used In ESPN and CBS March Madness Coverage

ESPN and CBS used a wide variety of Grass Valley HD production equipment in coverage of this year’s March Madness NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. Veteran mobile production companies Lyon Video of Columbus, Ohio, NEP Supershooters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Corplex, in Northfield, Illinois, are long-time Grass Valley customers and have handled coverage.

Corplex used its Platinum HD expando truck, which houses a fully loaded Grass Valley Kalypso HD switcher, to cover men’s regional games in Missouri, New Jersey and North Carolina.

Lyon Video covered women’s first and second round and division final games with its MU-6 and MU-7 mobile units. Each carries LDK 6000 HD WorldCam cameras, an LDK HD Super SloMo camera, a Kalypso switcher, a Trinix video routing switcher and a Concerto Series audio router.

NEP Supershooters used its SS21 HD truck to cover the Women’s Final Four for ESPN. The mobile studio has 18 Grass Valley LDK 6000 HD WorldCam cameras, a Kalypso HD production switcher, plus the Trinix and Concerto equipment as in the Lyon units.
