Fox Purchases Tandberg HD Decoders

Fox Network is purchasing 200 HD monitoring decoders from Tandberg Television to use in its rollout of 720p HD distribution to its affiliates starting in September.

National Fox affiliates will use Tandberg Television's TT1280- HD decoders to monitor network feeds originating from Fox's Los Angeles headquarters. The TT1280 will allow affiliates to monitor the network feed to verify video and audio quality and captioning, and makes its U.S. debut at NAB2004.

"Fox's announcement to deliver 720p signals to affiliates comes at a time when consumers are purchasing HDTV sets for the home at an accelerated rate due to price drops and an increased availability of programming. A recent Yankee Group report claims that 41.6 million homes will receive HD programming by 2007," said Eric Cooney, president and CEO of Tandberg Television.
