FOR-A introduces 1.5 M/E digital switcher at IBC2007

At the IBC2007 convention, FOR-A introduced the next generation of its VPS series of switchers, the VPS-715 GINGA, which offers all of the features of the company’s larger VPS-700 in a 1.5 M/E digital switcher.

The VPS-700 and the VPS-715 switchers both include a frame synchronizer for every input, up to 16 SD inputs and outputs, six keyers and six channels of 3-D DVE. Both switchers also come with a total of six key layers, four M/E keyers for linear, luminance, chroma (optional) with edge/shadow generation and key mask functions, and two downstream serial keyers (DSK).

The VPS-715’s large control panel consists of 16 primary input buttons, and its optional VPS-70FR Flash Recorder provides 120 seconds of uncompressed video recording along with two channels (key/fill) with simultaneous playback for video insert, CG wipe or slow-motion play-back. The switcher’s Fader link function allows for manual playback control. The VPS-715 includes redundant power supplies as well.

As another option on the VPS-715, users can add 2-D DVE in every input, delivering up to 32 DVE channels for multisource productions. It supports the 525/60 and 625/50 SD formats and features eight standard inputs, each of which has a frame synchronizer and still store feature using the F/S freeze and eight standard outputs. This can be increased by increments of four, for up to 16 primary inputs, 16 outputs and six key layers (four keyers and two DSK).
