FCC Chairman and Commissioners Plan CES Appearances

The upcoming 2010 International CES Show in Las Vegas will include appearances by both the Chairman of the FCC, Julius Genachowski, and three Commissioners, Meredith Atwell Baker, Mignon Clyburn and Robert McDowell.

Genachowski will appear with CEA president and CEO, Gary Shapiro, in a noontime discussion of FCC policy on Friday, Jan. 8. The following day Commissioners Baker, Clyburn and McDowell will participate in discussion of national broadband planning, accessibility, net neutrality and increasing spectrum demands. The program,"Inside the FCC’s Communications Agenda," will also take place at 12 noon.

Additionally, the event will host a technical policy summit on Jan. 7, "The Spectrum Grab and Innovation," which will feature remarks by Brian Levin, executive director of the FCC’s Omnibus Broadband Initiative. The summit is also a noontime event.

"The International CES brings together the policymakers who will make decisions that directly impact technology--from broadcast to cable, broadband to wireless and telecom to satellite," said Michael Petricone, senior vice president of government affairs at CEA. "We are excited to hear from top government officials as they discuss significant technology policy issues that will impact all sectors of the technology industry."

The 2010 International CES runs Jan. 7-10 and will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
