William Evans was named general manager of KGAN-TV, the CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He will also oversee sales and operations services at Fox affiliate KFXA-TV under a management agreement with KGAN-TV. (Sinclair Broadcast Group of Hunt Valley, Md., owns KGAN-TV and bought KFXA-TV last month for $17.1 million from Second Generation of Iowa.)
Evans was previously vice president and general manager at KPSP-TV, the CBS affiliate in Palms Springs, Calif.; and before that, he was general manager of four network affiliates in Baton Rouge, La.
During the 1990s, he was general manager and later vice president for Gulf-California Broadcast Co., where he was responsible for five television stations, two radio stations and a direct mail company. He was also president of the California Broadcasters Association and served on its board of directors for more than 10 years.
He started his broadcasting career in radio.
