DTV Sales Rise 45 Percent in 2005
By TVTechnology published
The Consumer Electronics Association has released numbers on factory-to-dealer sales of DTVs.
From January to June 2005, CEA reports that 3.8 million units have shipped, bringing dollar sales to more than $4.6 billion. Average prices of sales are $1,159 per DTV set, a $200 decrease. As prices come down, sales go up, according to CEA.
"It's a great time to buy--the number of DTV products and the wide range of prices has created a truly competitive marketplace," said Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO.
CEA reports that 7 million U.S. households are capable of receiving HD programming over-the-air or via cable.
