Crosscreek installs Sony LCD monitors for HD production

Crosscreek Television Productions’ latest mobile unit, Voyager 8, hit the road this summer with an array of Sony HD broadcast production technologies.

As of this month, the new truck will feature three of Sony’s new BVM-L230 LCD reference monitors to view feeds coming from its 19 Sony HD cameras — 12 HDC-1500 models, one HDC-3300 3X super motion system and six CX310K POV cameras. The new monitors will be used for program and preview monitoring for Crosscreek’s schedule of sports and live event productions, including college football for ESPN and minor league baseball games.

The BVM-L230 LCD Master Series monitor features a 22.5in (viewable area, measured diagonally) viewable screen, a full-resolution LCD panel, a newly developed high-precision backlight system and a display engine. The new LCD panel is one of the industry's first with a 10-bit driver. It is capable of producing 1024 levels of gray scale — ideal for high-end monitoring applications like digital cinema, DI, telecine and high-end post production, as well as in broadcast master control rooms or in OB trucks. It also incorporates Sony's TRIMASTER technology.

The Sony HDC-3300 camera transmits 180fps in full 1080i HD resolution and is paired with an EVS server. The camera also simultaneously outputs normal speed signals for live feeds through separate digital signal processing. It includes three 2/3in high speed progressive CCDs and enables recording at 1920 x 1080i or 150i, as well as 1280 x 720/180p or 150p.
