In Clarksburg, WV, a duopoly has been created as Withers Broadcasting expands its operation to include the management of the Fox affiliate WVFX alongside its CBS affiliate, WDTV. There is only one other full-power commercial station in the market, and that is West Virginia Media Holdings’ NBC affiliate WBOY.
WVFX, owned by the estate of the late oil billionaire Marvin Davis, will now be run by WDTV GM Tim DeFazio along with WDTV under a shared services agreement. WVFX GM Bill Stanton will no longer be part of the station.
Withers plans to introduce news on WVFX, which will create additional jobs for new anchor people.
