CBS to Use Norsat for Satellite ENG

CBS News received a delivery of two Model 3200 Norsat NewsLink portable satellite terminals for use in satellite newsgathering. The NewsLink is part of the company's OmniLink family of products.

Earlier this year CBS used two of a previous model for reporting during the Second Gulf War. According to Norsat, the new versions are "lighter, smarter and smaller," with new features such as a PocketPC spectrum analyzer, which displays the received spectrum from a satellite on a PDA. The terminal already sports Microsoft Windows software, a portable sunlight-readable LCD screen, sealed keyboard, dual-trace spectrum analyzer, carrier beacon detector and others.
