‘CBS Evening News’ gets new HD graphic look

Last week “CBS Evening News” launched a new on-air logo and graphics package to support its HD programming.

CBS news and sports president Sean McManus told “TVNewser” that the more contemporary graphics were inspired by the network’s 2008 election coverage in HD, when it used 3D graphic elements and virtual technology to report the political results.

An in-house graphics team, led by Bob Peterson, CBS News' executive creative director, developed the new design in about six months. The new design features a logo with three interlocking globes, moving images in the over-the-shoulder box and a bolder blue and red color scheme.

The package design also borrows from the Web, featuring special headers for each image (see after the jump), and drop-down tabs and boxes that would close a window.
