Canon Lenses Used In Super Bowl Coverage

Canon USA announced that it was once again it was the sole supplier of lenses used in connection with the airing of the Super Bowl. NEP Sharpshooters originated the game coverage and used several of Canon’s lenses to bring the action to viewers in high definition.

"Every Canon HD lens we select for the Super Bowl is crucial, because the all go on the air and any one of them could be on the camera that shoots the pivotal play," said George Hoover, the chief technology officer at NEP Sharpshooters. "They provide our client and the nation’s Super Bowl viewers with sharpness, crispness of image and the ability to maintain a great degree of sensitivity across the zoom range. When the sun goes down and you have to get those tight HDTV shots the lenses also have to be fast. Canon meets and exceeds all of those criteria."

Eight Canon Digisuper 100x XJ100x9.3B IE-D) long zoom models provided tight shots of the play. These were supplemented by an additional 16 shorter reach zoom models on fixed position cameras. Hand-held cameras were equipped with eight of Canon’s long focal length portable zoom models.
