GV Expo Presents Imagers 101

After decades of a single imaging format, the sensors in video cameras now come in many different sizes, which affect sensitivity, dynamic range, depth of field and image sharpness. Lens iris settings can affect image resolution in different ways for different imager sizes.

How can you translate a focal length from one imager size to another? Why is diffraction more of an issue for HD than SD? What does a chromatic aberration corrector do?

Engineering guru and Television Broadcast columnist Mark Schubin will answer these questions and discuss the optical issues of shooting video during the Government Video Conference Program at the 11th annual Government Video Technology Expo.

GV Expo runs Dec. 2-4, 2008, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Admission to the show floor is free for all registered attendees, but there is a charge to attend the Government Video Conference Program.

Schubin, a SMPTE Fellow, has been working professionally in the television industry since 1967. In addition to his contribution to Television Broadcast, Schubin has been writing a monthly column for sister pub Videography for more than 32 years.
