Belo Corp. has announced the appointment of Lawrence D. “Nick” Nicholson as president and general manager of the company’s Phoenix television stations, KTVK and KASW, the Arizona News Channel and related Web sites.
Nicholson has served as president and general manager at WVEC-TV in Hampton/Norfolk, Va., since 2006 and was vice president and general manager at KMSB-TV and KTTU-TV in Tucson between 2004 and 2006. He started his broadcasting career with Tulsa’s KOTV in 1985.
“Nick brings more than 22 years of leadership to his new assignment in Phoenix,” said Peter Diaz, Belo’s executive vice president of television operations. “His recent success in Hampton/Norfolk and Tucson combine with his strong background in sales and marketing make him a great choice to lead our Phoenix operations.”
Nicholson was one of the first television professionals to participate in Belo’s Executive Development Training Program. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a BS degree in business administration.
