AZCAR completes network installation for Pennsylvania Public Television

AZCAR Technologies has completed the installation of a state-wide television distribution network using ATM data transmission technology that will carry programming to all eight public television stations in Pennsylvania.

As part of the contract, AZCAR will supply maintenance services to PPTN for five years.

In addition to live programming, the network also is part of a distributed system of asset management used by all eight stations that includes a Sony Petasite Archive with Avalon Archive Manager installed by AZCAR which will be used to maintain a central library of programming.

Programs can be delivered in compressed MPEG-2 form directly to servers in each station. The network also carries emergency notification services and communications channels connecting all sites with the PPTN Technical Center in Hershey.

Marconi supplied the ATM switches for the network.

It took four months to complete the installation.
