AWRT Honors Cavell as Female Engineer of the Year

The American Women in Radio and Television and the Society of Broadcast Engineers have named Lucinda Hutter Cavell this year's Outstanding Female Engineer of the Year.

The annual award will be presented during the 2007 AWRT Annual Leadership Summit and Business Conference, on March 10, at the Renaissance M Street Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Hutter Cavell's broadcasting career spans 28 years and includes work at three Olympic games and covering Presidential travels. She currently is overseeing the equipment replacement project for the TV 2 GHz ENG band at Sprint Nextel.

"AWRT is thrilled to present this award to Cindy," said Mary Bennett, 2007 AWRT chair and executive vice president of the Radio Advertising Bureau. "She embodies the characteristics that this award was intended to honor: She is both extremely accomplished and a giving member of the electronic media community."

Nominees must be a member of AWRT or the SBE and are selected based on a criterion that includes significant contributions to the broadcast industry, a professional track that has been technical in nature, and has advanced the goals and objectives of the SBE and AWRT, while promoting the field as a career path for women in electronic media.
