ATSC names Whitaker vice president of standards development

The ATSC board of directors has named Jerry Whitaker vice president of standards development.
Since joining the ATSC in October 2000 to coordinate technical activities, Whitaker has streamlined the standards development process. Whitaker currently serves as secretary of the Technology Group on Distribution and is closely involved in the work of the ATSC Implementation Subcommittee.
Before joining ATSC, Whitaker was the president of Technical Press. Prior to that position he served as editorial director of Broadcast Engineering and associate publisher for Broadcast Engineering and Video Systems. Previous positions include radio station chief engineer and television news producer.
