Anderson Evans Dies at Age 82

Anderson Pierce Evans Jr., a former CBS engineering executive, died on Nov. 25, 2006 at the Bayview Samantha Wilson Care Center in St. Augustine, Fla. He was 82.

Evans was an acknowledged expert in the field of audio and communications systems design and had been employed at CBS in New York for more than three decades before his retirement in 1985.

He held several management positions with the network, including director of audio/video engineering.

Evans was instrumental in the construction of the CBS Broadcast Center in early 1960s and was involved in updating the facility in the 1980s.

He was a member of the Audio Engineering Society and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Evans authored and co-authored two books. He is remembered by co-workers as a teacher of his trade, and was also known as a writer of limericks and a capable musician.

He is survived by his widow, Sally, a brother and two daughters.
