News-Press and Gazette stations to roll out all-digital news production

KESQ-TV in Palm Desert, CA, is transforming its existing facility into an all-digital environment with help from Avid's end-to-end digital broadcast production solutions.

The News-Press and Gazette Broadcasting Company, which owns nine television and cable stations, has purchased several Avid Technology end-to-end digital broadcast production solutions for three news-centric stations.

The all-digital production environments are planned for KTVZ-TV in Bend, OR, KVIA-TV in El Paso, TX, and KESQ-TV in Palm Desert, CA.

The stations will implement an Avid Unity LANshare for news shared-media network to manage the simultaneous ingest, edit and output functions in their new, tapeless facilities. The stations also will purchase Avid NewsCutter XP systems with the Avid Mojo feature for editing and Avid AirSpeed servers for ingest and playout.

In addition to deploying Avid end-to-end solutions at the stations, News-Press and Gazette will also use the new workflows to create content and produce segments for English and Spanish news programming at KDFX-TV, KUNA-TV and KCWB-TV in Palm Springs, CA.
