WPBS selects Crispin for five channels of playout

Crispin has received an expansion order from WPBS-TV, a Watertown, NY, non-profit public television station, to provide additional software, equipment and services.

WPBS selected the System 2000 suite of applications to support asset management, satellite recording, media ingest, device control, traffic translation and control of five channels for on-air playback. The Crispin solution includes seven workstations, each focused on a specific workflow task.

The tightly integrated system is fully-configured to match WPBS’s requirements and includes control for the creation of their on-air playback channels. Crispin’s on-air playback application, RapidPlayX will provide playlist monitoring and control for their on-air channels. Crispin’s 32 port DeviceServer will control Omneon servers, a switcher and multiple VTRs.

WPBS operators will use TurboBrowser, to locate video clips in their system. With approximately 100 file cabinet entries per channel, WPBS operators can insert alternate events (interstitials, commercials, evergreen material) or entire blocks of material to accommodate last-minute changes to the schedule. The RecordScheduler is used for daily schedules of program acquisition events. WPBS will use two ingest workstations to control multiple source devices, allowing them to acquire and prepare video assets for air.
