Shure expands SM microphone line with two new condensers

Shure has expanded the SM Series with the introduction of the SM27 and SM137 condenser mics. Both models will carry a two-year warranty and are slated to ship in March.

The SM27 is a versatile large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser aimed primarily at vocal applications, both live and in studio. It offers an ultra-thin 1i Mylar diaphragm for superior transient response and low-frequency reproduction. The SM27 replaces the discontinued KSM27 in the Shure line. The new model features a lower self-noise (9.5dB SPL) and improved dynamic range in comparison to its predecessor.

The SM137 is a probe-style cardioid condenser microphone for instrument recording applications. The SM137 employs an ultra-thin diaphragm for smooth high end and tight, controlled low frequencies, and engaging the 15dB attenuator enables it to handle sound pressure levels as high as 154dB SPL. The SM137 replaces the KSM109 model.
