Sandusky Radio keeps in sync with Lucid clock generators

Sandusky Radio Seattle (SRS) operates in a complex environment, managing five radio stations that utilize 14 studios. To handle synchronization issues, SRS utilizes Lucid GENx6-96 Word/Super Clock Generators. Capable of generating Word Clock or Superclock at 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz, with selectable external AES-11, Word Clock or Superclock input, the expandable GENx6-96 provides dependable clocking that keeps all studios literally on the same clock.

SRS director of engineering George Bisso reports zero errors and no downtime since installing the units more than a year ago. The broadcaster notes that the full signal path being regulated via Lucid clocking runs 29mi. The Lucid system was originally chosen for its operational flexibility and the company’s ability and willingness to design a system to SRS specifications, which included an XLR connection standard from clocking systems to soundcards.
