Pinnacle Signs on to P2

Pinnacle Systems has added its name to the growing list of companies that will integrate Panasonic's P2 tapeless production platform.

Pinnacle has agreed to make its IT-based networked media systems integrate with Panasonic's DVCPRO Professional Plug-in ("P2") solid-state memory-based equipment. P2 will interoperate with Pinnacle's Vortex networked news system, Liquid editing systems, Team Sports solutions, MediaStream servers and Palladium shared storage systems

The P2 utilizes a P2 storage media card comprised of Panasonic's SD Memory cards and is compatible with the PCMCIA slots on PCs. Users will be able to edit directly from a P2 to their computers, and complete data transfer to networked servers.

Thomson and Avid Technology have also agreed to make their products interoperate with P2.
