Miranda Technologies unveils Automatic Loudness Control

Miranda Technologies has launched Automatic Loudness Control (ALC) to eliminate loudness variation between program segments, which typically happens during commercial breaks. It incorporates Level Magic technology from Jünger Audio, which uses Wideband processing to control loudness and peak level, and avoid defects like breathing, pumping and spectral changes. The processing relies on a highly sophisticated, adaptive level control algorithm.

With ALC, the desired loudness target, or operating level, and peak level can be set once, and thereafter the processing offers continuous control, regardless of the source. ALC is available in two-, six- and eight-channel versions, which can provide 5.1, stereo and mono processing. The output loudness from modules equipped with ALC can be monitored according to ITU-R BS.1770.
