Kansas’ KWCH commits to Riedel intercom platform

Looking for flexibility in its internal communications system, KWCH, the CBS affiliate in Wichita, KS, has installed an Artist digital matrix intercom from Riedel Communications that tightly integrates its telephone lines into the intercom.

At the heart of the installation is a Riedel Artist 128 digital matrix intercom. Nine Artist 1000 series desktop control panels provide digital broadcast quality audio. The system’s fully redundant architecture offers reliability while a C44 system interface seamlessly integrates the existing digital party-line system into the communications infrastructure. Seven C3 Performer beltpacks complete the installation.

The Riedel Artist system provides flexibility not only in terms of port assignment and routing, but also in terms of size, because the intercom features scalable technology that can grow with the station’s needs. Two Artist Connect Solo interfaces integrate POTS phone lines into the communications matrix. In addition, KWCH uses 10 closed Riedel PRO headsets. The system is already installed and in operation.
