As part of a major expansion to its production and transmission studios in Milton Keynes, U.K., J13 Broadcast, an independent production and playout company, has installed two Custom Consoles Module-R desks. J13 provides a wide range of TV origination and transmission services delivered via Astra and Eurobird satellites.
With easy front and rear access to cables and equipment, the Module-R design enabled J13 to select furniture exactly matching its specific requirements without incurring the cost of custom building. The company chose a seven-bay desk for its new Playout Control suite. The desk has a 19in rack bay at each end to accommodate auxiliary equipment. Four PC displays mounted on Ergotron arms are used for system monitoring, and the desk's three central positions hold routing, picture monitoring and text equipment.
A second Module-R desk installed at J13 is a three-bay version, configured to allow two live studios to be controlled simultaneously by a single operator. Left and right bays are each equipped with eight picture monitors, the center bay housing the main program monitor and source selector. Freestanding vision mixer panels are located on the work surface left and right of the operator. An assignable remote camera controller is positioned in the center, together with a compact audio mixer.
Custom Consoles Module-R technical control desks can be tailored to individual requirements from a range of high-quality desk pods, base sections, worktops, rear tops, end-panel modules and forward-angled silver-painted steel legs. Desk pods are available as single, dual and triple-bay sections with a choice of 3U, 6U or 8U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality gray-finished MDF with hardwearing linoleum work surfaces. Cable management ducts are integrated into all desk sections.
