IBC TV News Chooses Digital Rapids

Digital Rapids announced that IBC TV again chose it to provide encoding services for its News web presence and mobile delivery. The developer of scalable solutions for content ingest, encoding, transcoding, protection and delivery will be responsible for the encoding of selected stories to 3GPP and MPEG-4 formats for download to mobile devices such as cell phones.

Encoding for IBC TV News will be performed using a Digital Rapids StreamZ media encoding system. Stories will be fed to StreamZ live via SDI from the IBC TV News edit suites, and encoded in real time. StreamZ will then automatically transfer the files to the hosting servers for audience delivery.

Digital Rapids said that StreamZ encoding solutions combine powerful capture and pre-processing hardware with the intuitive Stream software, delivering real-time, multiformat media encoding, transcoding and streaming for applications including IPTV, VOD and mobile distribution. Advanced, hardware-based video processing features - including motion adaptive de-interlacing, filtering, and 3D motion-adaptive noise reduction -enable optimum quality and the most efficient use of bandwidth in the compressed result, said the solution provider.
