IBC: DVS to Showcase Venice Support for AVC-Intra

At IBC2009, DVS will demonstrate the latest developments to its Venice video server for the broadcast market, in particular, new support for Panasonic’s AVC-Intra 50/100 format.

Venice supports a wide range of video formats. The latest, AVC-Intra, offers twice the compression efficiency of MPEG-2, providing high-quality, 10 bit intra-frame encoding in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 for full 1920x1080 mastering video quality and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps for DVCPRO HD comparable quality at half the bit rate, effectively doubling the record time on a P2 card and other storage devices.

Berhnard Reitz, head of product management at DVS applauded the company’s alliance with Panasonic. “It has always been essential to DVS to strengthen its strategic partnerships,” he said. “With Panasonic, we found a partner that focuses on the broadcaster’s current needs and requirements like we do. Our support for Panasonic’s AVC-Intra provides an added level of choice and offers many more possibilities for broadcasters migrating into a tapeless and file-based workflow environment.

DVS will be in Stand 7.E21.
