Fujinon Introduces New Compact, HD Studio Lens

Lens manufacturer Fujinon has introduced the XA22x7BES compact, HD studio lens.

The XA22x7BES is a lightweight box lens with a focal length starting at 7mm and ranging up to 154mm. The new XA22X7BES features minimal focus breathing, 14-bit control (16-bit optional) with external port for robotics interface, and the front barrel will accept a 127mm filter. Fujinon said the lens is well suited for shooting in tight locations and smaller studios.

As with larger, studio lenses, this lens features LED indicators for zoom, iris, and extender on the outside of the lens for fast recognition. Because it is a smaller box lens, it does not require a heavy lens support, but comes with an easy-to-mount support that fits on standard ENG-capable tripods, studio pedestals and robotics systems.

"This is a new class of lens," said Dave Waddell, marketing manager at Fujinon. "It combines what is best about large, studio lenses in a smaller package for use with ENG-style cameras. Many broadcasters are looking to replace studio cameras with ENG cameras but the optical quality and precision of zoom and focus functions must be at a very high level to make that switch. That's exactly where this lens fits in."
