For-A Promises New Noise Reduction Tool

For-A Corp. of America has announced that it will be showing a new video noise reduction tool at this year's NAB Show.

The DNE-2 Noise Eraser operates in real time and uses motion compensation technology to ensure accuracy of replacement video.

"We named the DNE-2 a 'noise eraser' instead of a 'noise reducer' because we wanted to create a product that would accurately remove noise only, using For-A's image processing technology," said Hiro Tanoue, deputy general manager for overseas operations at For-A. "It marks a significant break from competitive products. The '2' in the 'DNE-2' model name represents the two filter functions that are used in the product — one to remove grain noise and one to remove dust noise."

The device is useful in removing dust particle impairment, as well as film grain structure, from video that has originated on film. The unit supports most common 720p and 1080i HD formats. It is claimed also to be useful for improving signal to noise ratio, colour correction, detail enhancement and delay of audio.
