360 Systems is entering the video server market by introducing a line of MPEG-2 video servers targeting TV broadcast and video production.
360 System's "Image Servers" are built on 360's MPEG-2 video card. SD models have up to six video channels, 24 audio channels and 330 hours of storage on an internal drive array. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports use MXF for video file transfer.
The servers encode in Main profile to 15 Mbps or in 4:2:2 profile to 50 Mbps. The servers include dual composite and SDI video ports on each channel, LTV and VITC time code, closed captioning, VDCP and NDCP automation control and a 64-bit bus.
The Image Server 2000 targets smaller-market broadcasters, production, redundant program backup and export. It has two independent video output streams and program ingest. Each video channel has two stereo AES/EBU channels with analog audio I/O. The server stores up to 140 hours of video, at 12 Mbps, and has some similar features found on the Image Server 7000.
