Algolith Unveils Profanity Delay for Unexpected “Wardrobe” Malfunctions and Obscenities

Easy-to-use system prevents unwanted content with a simple push of a button before the content can get on-air

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 20, 2009) NAB BOOTH SU3117

– Algolith Inc., a leader in advanced world class video processing solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite, and IPTV providers, today unveiled the Algogear™ PDS-1001-MD Profanity Delay System. Ideal for managing unexpected wardrobe malfunctions, obscenities, or anything that should not be sent to air, this latest application from Algolith has easy-to-use features that allow broadcasters to block unwanted content before it can get on-air with a simple push of a button. The Algogear

PDS-1001-MD Profanity Delay System is perfect for live events where the unexpected can happen, and broadcasters need to time-shift live feeds so they have time to censor profanity on the fly.

“So many programs we enjoy today are live. Whether it’s a reality show, sporting event, or talk show, the excitement of live programming comes with the challenge of blocking unexpected mishaps,” said Yvan Ouellet, president and CEO of Algolith. “That is where the Profanity Delay System comes into play. It’s the ideal solution for broadcasters who need the extra cushion in the event of an unforeseen situation where they need to cut away from the live feed viewers see in real time. It’s added insurance for broadcasters trying to prevent obscenity from reaching the wrong audience.”

Profanity Delay with Several Options

The Algogear Profanity Delay System is a video delay with several options to help broadcasters manage unpredictable live events. It can switch to a Safe Input for profanity “air cleaning” which lets the user switch the audio and/or video source to a “safe input” before it goes to air. With the push of one button the program video and audio output are able to switch to an alternative back-up channel. When releasing the button, the output is returned to the original live program content without producing any “pops” or “clicks” in the audio. The Profanity Delay System also gives the operator the option to “defocus” the main program in order to obscure unwanted images without interrupting the live stream.

Advanced Audio Delay

The PDS-1001-MD allows switching the audio to “safe feed” or “fade-to-mute” (embedded audio only). All 16 channels can be programmed as safe video feed (ex: 5.1 audio switch). Monitoring output of delayed and non-delayed program is also available. Proper audio and video transition is ensured with a programmable user “preroll” trigger reaction. Other key features and benefits include:

• Four available outputs: Main output is the delayed main program; Auxiliary 1, 2 & 3 are programmable;

Main program, and Delayed main program; and Alternate input, Delayed alternate input

• A choice of “video blurring” or switching to “safe input”

• Programmable function GPI (audio and video function)

One Card, One Price, More Choices

Algolith’s One Card, One Price, More Choices program works with the entire Algogear line of advanced video processing cards. Customers can choose from one of the many solutions to reconfigure their cards at no additional cost. These include:
