TV Magic Helps Pacific Television Center Offer State-of-the-Art Transmission

New Manhattan Facility Equipped With HD Insert Studio to Support Live Broadcasts for a Host of International and Domestic Network Clients

SAN DIEGO -- Sept. 25, 2007 -- Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic today announced that it is performing the design and build of an HD insert studio at Pacific Television Center's new Manhattan offices. This New York facility will complement the company's London and Los Angeles offices, providing production and transmission services for live broadcast in a location convenient to major networks from around the world.

"We've worked successfully with TV Magic in past projects and knew the company could help us find clever solutions for our new Manhattan office, even within a fairly tight timeframe," said Richard Neri, president of Pacific Television Center. "TV Magic excels in 'value engineering,' identifying options in different equipment categories that would help us stay close to our budget. With TV Magic's increasing presence in New York and responsiveness from its California offices, we know that we can rely on the company's continued support as we open our new facility."

Pacific Television has gone out of its way to design offices quite different than the large office block typical of other broadcast companies. The company's New York office, which features a boutique-inspired design, will occupy the ground floor units of two adjacent brownstones located on East 31st Street between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue. The architectural design, provided by Janson Design Group, and atmosphere of the facility offers clients a discrete entryway and a uniquely intimate feel within. SIA Acoustics were retained for the studio design, which provides an oasis in the middle of Manhattan. TV Magic is overseeing the design and installation of the facility's broadcast and transmission infrastructure, including interfacing with master control to get content out of the building.

Among the key challenges presented by the project was integration of broadcast systems into a 100-year-old building. TV Magic engineers worked closely with Pacific Television Center's own engineering staff and the architectural firm to build in the supporting electrical and network capacity to support operations and fiber-based transmission of content for broadcast and for delivery to the company's Los Angeles and London offices. The new facility is set to start business in October.

"Pacific Television Center's New York facility will offer state-of-the-art, live broadcast services within a unique and special environment," said Stephen D. Rosen, president of TV Magic. "We completed a master control rebuild for the company's L.A. master control room several years ago, and we're pleased to be working with Pacific Television Center once again as it extends its production and distribution capabilities to meet the demands of a very dedicated clientele."
