HTN Communications (formerly Hughes Television Network) is now deploying a U.S. network to transport enhanced sports programming using Net Insight’s Nimbra platform.
New York City-based HTN, which services the sports broadcast and cable marketplace with transmission facilities and services, will kick off the initial phase during the 2007–08 NHL and NBA seasons.
This phase will cover about 10 venues with a continued rollout to all pro sports venues throughout the season. The network will increase bandwidth and service offerings at each venue to include multiple HD and SD video backhaul capabilities.
The Nimbra platform is also a versatile multiservice solution that can transport HD-SDI streams alongside SDI, any-size MPEG (ASI and IP), audio (AES-EBU and E1) and Ethernet data traffic over a common network.
