AP Appoints New Director of Sales

Phillip Whitacre was named to the position of director of sales and marketing for the Associated Press' Broadcast Technology division. Whitacre will lead the division's global sales efforts and the strategic business planning for AP's broadcast technology products from Washington, D.C. He will also help AP's key clients, including Time Warner Cable, Hearst Argyle, Tribune and the BBC, in using their news content management systems,
Previously Whitacre was the director of sales for the United States and Canada for Wegener Communications. Before that he was a regional sales manager for video network sales with Scientific Atlanta, and a senior account manager for Asia-Pacific data and telephony networks sales.
