Omneon to Mark European Debut of ProXchange, MediaDeck

Omneon Video Networks will introduce its MediaDeck compact server as well as its ProXchange high-performance transcoding system for high-volume, multiformat media environments, at IBC2007.

Designed to run on Omneon’s MediaGrid active storage and processing architecture for scalable grid-based transcoding, ProXchange performs conversions between a wide variety of video and audio formats, including all formats supported by the Omneon Spectrum media server as well as conversion to a low-resolution H.264 format. Conversion and re-wrapping between wrapper formats also is supported (e.g., QuickTime and MXF), with preservation and accurate placement of all metadata through all conversions.

The combination of MediaGrid and ProXchange also simplifies repurposing of media. For example, ProXchange can take MPEG-2 50 Mbps I-Frame content and automatically create a transmission copy in MPEG Long GOP, then concurrently create an H.264 clip for distribution to IPTV or the Web.

Omneon also will debut for Europe the MediaDeck compact integrated media server system based on the company’s flagship Spectrum media server. MediaDeck integrates media storage, system management, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, and SD or HD video I/O modules in one package only two rack-units high.

Omneon will be at Stand 8.260.
