Newport Television Taps VCI for Sales Restructure

The Newport Television group, based in Kansas City, Mo., with stations in 24 U.S. markets has expanded its relationship with VCI Solutions Orion Business System software in an effort to standardize reporting capabilities for sales data analysis.

With the new system, Newport is able to realize efficiencies with the standardization of key data that is used in analyzing market trends and predicting revenues. Customized weekly reporting has also been implemented to streamline scheduling operations.

"With more channels to manage, we needed to maximize our resources to efficiently work with our Internet division and yield management pricing system," said Craig Millar, Newport's senior VP of operations. "VCI's intuitive yet robust platform stood out as the best option to expand to all of our systems with minimal disruption to our current business. They've worked closely with us; we're looking forward to realizing full benefits with all 56 stations."

Installations of the new system began in November, with three of Newport’s channels in Mobile, Ala. being first to go live on Dec. 1. The system is planned to be operational at all of the group’s stations by the end of January.
