KNBC, KVEA to cover LA Marathon on multiple platforms

KNBC and KVEA will use a variety of platforms, including streaming Internet coverage from their respective Web sites and additional coverage on one of KNBC’s digital subchannels, to cover the Los Angeles Marathon March 2.

KNBC and KVEA will offer isolated camera feeds that will stream live on their KNBC.com and Telemundo52.com Web sites. The feed options will include a stationary finish line camera that will stream live until sundown, so visitors to the Web sites can watch their friends and family members cross the finish line.

KNBC will go behind the scenes at the Los Angeles Marathon on “NewsRaw,” the station’s avant-garde news service broadcast on one of its digital subchannels. “NewsRaw” coverage will include reaction from viewers on marathon-related blogs as well as e-mails to the station.

To cover the 26.2mi race, the station will use a production truck at the finish line and one at the starting location. More than 140 crewmembers, six helicopters, 26 different camera positions, a fleet of side car motorcycles providing transportation for analysts, spotters and cameras will be used for the production.
