AES, Dolby offer training

The 119th Audio Engineering Society Convention, which takes place Oct. 7-10 in New York City, will feature “The Next Generation of Consumer Disc Formats: HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc” seminar. Sponsored by Dolby Laboratories, the free training seminars will take place from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Oct. 7 -8 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Attendees will learn how formats are structured; discuss authoring tools, how discs are replicated, and how both formats will impact the marketplace.

Steve Venezia from Dolby Labs and Lorr Kramer from DTS will cover the audio and surround sound implications of the new disc format designs, which include the capability of delivering multichannel lossless audio.
