WXYZ to use JVC GY-HD250U PRO HD cameras for news
By TVTechnology published
WXYZ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Detroit, has purchased five GY-HD250U Pro HD cameras for the station’s HD electronic newsgathering (ENG).
The station first used the GY-HD250 cameras as part of its HD coverage of the November elections from its command center, an additional studio used to help cover the election. WXYZ-TV switched between its main studio and the command center throughout the election coverage.
The station upgraded its local news coverage to HD Oct. 4, making WXYZ-TV the first station in Michigan to broadcast local news in HD.
According to WXYZ-TV director of engineering Ray Thurber, the GH-HD250 cameras complement the station’s existing nonlinear workflow, which made the station’s transition to JVC cameras seamless.
