WNET.ORG Gets New For-A Switcher

WNET.ORG, the parent company of two New York television PBS member stations, has recently installed an HVS-1500HS from For-A Corp. The switcher is part of facility constructed for production of a new international newscast, “Worldfocus.”

“We’re very pleased with the switcher,” said Frank Graybill, WNET chief engineer. “The HVS-1500HS has proven a solid choice for the new facility. It is a robust, feature-rich component of our production. While ‘Worldfocus’ is a show that is produced and edited offline, we have the ability to go live if we wish.”

The switcher was supplied through Diversified Systems, a system integrator involved in the creation of the new production facility. ‘Worldfocus’ is anchored by Martin Savidge and is currently distributed in standard definition, but will be offered to PBS member stations in HD starting this spring.
