WNED On Air With L-3 CEA 130

(March 23, 2004) Williamsport, PA--L-3 Electron Devices' CEA 130 is being used by WNED Public Television in Buffalo, NY, for transmission of the station's digital television signal. The CEA 130 is installed as part of a new Thales Broadcasting & Multimedia DCX Paragon MSDC IOT digital transmitter. The Multistage Depressed Collector (MSDC) used in the CEA offers significantly improved efficiency over standard IOT technology, and the power savings associated with this improved efficiency was cited by WNED as the key factor in selection of the CEA.
"Public broadcasters are particularly concerned with controlling operating costs, and any technology like the CEA that can help reduce those costs is a welcome advance," said Ray Felckowski, manager of transmission systems at WNED. "In addition to the excellent performance of the tube, the field service support from L-3 has been extraordinary. The company has proven to be an excellent organization to work with."
