WB Gives Protter New Title

The WB network's Distribution Department recently upgraded the title of Hal Protter to senior vice president, Distribution Development, in order to reflect his work in keeping the network and its affiliates up-to-date technologically, particularly with HDTV and digital signals.

He will continue his work as the network's liaison to stations and station groups, represent The WB on the Advanced Television Systems Committee and work with cable systems to increase The WB's carriage and to secure better channel positions.

Protter has worked for the WB since 1994. Previously he was the senior vice president and general manager of KPLR-TV in St. Louis. He has worked at WXIX-TV in Cincinnati, WVTV-TV in Milwaukee and KPTM-TV in Omaha. Protter was also on the executive teams for Koplar Communications and Watertown Television Corporation. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut.
