Washington Public Affairs Network (TVW) selected Sundance Digital's Titan automation system to sit at the heart of a new digital infrastructure at its new location in Olympia, Wash. The cable channel upgraded its outdated analog systems when it recently moved from its old facility--a 5,000-square-foot former bowling alley--into a 15,000-square-foot production studio across the street.
Titan was designed to control hundreds of channels in a single facility or remotely manage playlists at multiple locations. Titan automation is driving a 300-hour Omneon video server as well as remotely monitoring playback, the fiber infrastructure, and its routing switchers. The system also automates the archiving process by managing the movement of content between the Omneon play-to-air server and near-line storage.
TVW provides unedited TV and Web coverage of state government deliberations and public policy events, as well as more than 2,000 hours of original programming annually to more than 98 percent of the cable households in the state (more than 3 million potential viewers) on a 24/7 schedule. The network went on-air from its new facilities in late 2006.
