Telecast Fiber Systems to show new transceiver for Thomson’s Infinity camcorder at IBC

Telecast Fiber Systems will unveil its new CopperHead INF camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver for the Thomson Grass Valley Infinity camcorder at IBC, which enables users of the Infinity to leverage the IT-centric image acquisition device as both a camcorder and an HD-SDI multicam production camera.

The compact CopperHead INF delivers bidirectional HD-SDI, composite video, audio, intercom, genlock and camera control between the Infinity camera head and the remote base station over a single lightweight fiber-optic cable.

As an option, SMPTE hybrid cable can be used if remote powering of the camera is required. The 1RU base station integrates easily into any studio, mobile truck, or portable flypack and plugs directly into the facility's switcher, router, intercom and house sync systems. In addition, the system permits iso-recording on each Infinity camcorder's internal REV PRO drive during multicamera productions, allowing for additional post-production editing without the need for expensive studio-style recorders.

Telecast will also demonstrate its new SuperBooth application suite of fiber-optics systems packaged for mobile production applications, such as televised coverage of golf and other sports events. SuperBooth provides broadcasters with a plug-and-play solution for leveraging fiber-optic networks to overcome the challenges of mobile coverage and deliver the highest quality video to viewers.

The SuperBooth suite includes the company’s Adder II audio, intercom, and data multiplexer; the DiamondBack 4X4 audio and video multiplexer; the TeleThon HD-SDI CWDM multiplexer; and new dual-redundant AC/DC RackBack power system.
