Stations cover LA marathon on multiple platforms
By TVTechnology published
In addition to their HDTV channels, NBC Universal local affiliates KNBC and KVEA (Telemundo) streamed live video over the Internet via their respective Web sites and offered additional footage on one of KNBC’s digital subchannels to cover the Los Angeles Marathon March 2.
To cover the 26.2mi race, the stations employed a production truck at the finish line and one at the starting location. More than 140 crewmembers, six helicopters, 26 different camera positions and a fleet of sidecar motorcycles providing transportation for analysts, spotters and cameras were also used for the production.
Both stations provided live camera feeds streamed on the KNBC.com and Telemundo52.com Web sites.
