St. Pete Obtains For-A Switcher

St. Petersburg in Florida has selected a Hanabi HVS-1000HS HD/SD video switcher from For-A for its city government television station, WSPF-TV. The HVS-1000HS, a one M/E switcher that supports the 1080i and 720p (and all SD formats), will be used in conjunction with a four-camera robotic system for the live broadcast of St. Petersburg City Council and other meetings.

WSPF-TV, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and annually produces an average of 420 hours of original programming, has procured the 1000HS as part of its current digital upgrade. The switcher is located in the WSPF-TV master control area. It's being used to cover 10 live government meetings per month and it switches between four digital robotic cameras and signals from a video projection unit, document stand camera, and desktop and laptop PCs.

The switcher offers 8 standard video inputs, 10-bit, 4:2:2:4 digital component processing, and supports 1080/60i, 59.94i, 50i, 24p, 24sF, 23.98p, 23.98sF 720/60p, 59.94p and standard definition formats. The main unit can be equipped with a redundant power supply, DVE board, multiple keyer boards (internal Chroma key function) and color correction board.
