Sony Pictures Digital is using the Avid Active ContentManager for its SoapCity Download service that delivers full-length soap opera episodes to broadband users.
The ContentManager, which distributes digital video over the Web, automates the process of collecting digital content from multiple sources and distributing it across channels, including wireless devices, iTV and the Internet. The SoapCity Download offers features similar to a VCR.
Sony's new service launched Feb. 26 and plans to use Avid's ContentManager in future offerings. The SoapCity Network serves over $3.4 million users a month.
