Singapore’s Cutting Edge Post Uses Ensemble Designs’ Upconverters

Grass Valley, Calif.-based Ensemble Designs, which provides signal processing and infrastructure products, announced that Singapore’s Cutting Edge Post uses the 7900 module of its Avenue product line. The 7900 serves as an upconverter, downconverter, and aspect ratio converter that handles audio and provides frame synchronization.

“We are completely relying on Ensemble products for our post facilities. We use the Ensemble 7900 as a downconverter for client preview copies and as an upconverter for ingest,” said Cutting Edge owner Chua Beng Teck. “Most of what we do is sold by our clients to international broadcasters. It’s very important we provide a maximum clean image.”

Cutting Edge cited the Discovery Channel and Singapore’s award-winning documentary producer Caldecott Productions International as clients.

“We use the 5400 (sync pulse generator) for color barring tapes, sending tri-level to our HD equipment and black burst for SD machines,” said Mr. Chua.
